Flood at Lagos Election and low turnout

The Lagos State local government election was delayed this morning across the state by a heavy downpour.

Electoral officials are at this moment setting up in their various units.

Many pedestrians were walking this morning

FESTAC: Voters and officials take cover as the heavens opened up at Unit 033 FESTAC
The governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, cast his vote at about 9:31 am, leading scores of electorate to the venue.

Ayobo/Ipaja: Most wards still awaiting arrival of voting materials as at 10.30am. However voting has started in Wards A and B
Voting in process in Ibeju-Lekki Senior High school. Election is going on smoothly. Only APC and Labour party are represented
Election about to commence at Unit 003, Ward B, Oto Awori LCDA at about 10:30 a.m.
Voters are few as many who came earlier returned when the election officers did not arrive on time.

Alimosho: Accreditation exercise was yet to begin at most polling units in Alimosho local government area of Lagos state, as officials of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC were yet to arrive.
Electorates who throng the various polling units to exercise their franchise expressed disappointment over the delay.
Some of them resorted to giving numbers , in order to ensure orderliness when the process begins.
Due to the early morning down, there was low turn out of voters at Potan, Atinporomeh, Mowo, Ikoga area in Olorunda Local Council Development Area.

In Awoyaya area of Ibeju-Lekki, APC, UPP, Labour, PDP are represented. There is low turnout.

At 11.42 am, voting yet to Commerce in Eleran_igbe area of Ibeju-Lekki. Eleran-Igbe is a boundary between Ikorodu and Eti-Osa. There are about 9 polling booth in ward B. There are 2 patties represented in this ward. APC and Labour party.

Jakande estate, Oke-Afa: Local government election may not hold at Peace Home Valley Estate Community Development Area , CDA off Sewage road, Jakande estate in Oke-Afa Afa area of Ejigbo, Lagos.

This is because polling units at the CDA comprising ten streets have been overtaken by flood as a result of the early morning heavy down pour.

As at 11am, residents were still trapped in their respective apartments, as the streets were flooded.

There was no sight of officials of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission or agents of respective political parties around.
We were not given the exact time voting would end but…

Badagry: Poor turn out of voters at Ward 005 in Badagry. .

AYOBO AREA: At 730am the rain just subsidies. The roads are empty but people still move in corner streets. Dominant party here is the APC

The heavens open up in FESTAC forcing voters to run for cover
Election process was yet to begin as at 9.45 am, solo , Ejigbo, Okota following delay of arrival of election materials.

There were no sight of officials of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC at polling units at Isolo , Ejigbo, Okota, and Oshodi areas of Lagos state.
Amuwo Odofin: Voting about to commence at Unit 016, Ward 03.
Polling agents from APC, PDP, Labour and APGA are represented

LAGOS Mainland: More than 70 voters have voted at Unit19 Ward H Borno/Jebba Street, LAGOS Mainland
Ibeju-Lekki: In Awoyaya area of Ibeju-Lekki, APC, UPP, Labour, PDP are represented. There is low turnout.

APC party agent said, people refused to come out and vote.
“We are trying to mobilize people to come out and vote. But, the election is peaceful”.

Ibeju-Lekki: In ward D in Eleko area of Ibeju-Lekki, only Labour Party and APC are represented.
Accreditation started at 8am and ended 10am while voting started immediately.

Meanwhile Speaker of the Lagos state House of Assembly Mudashiru Obasa was unable to cast his vote.

Obasa went home from his Polling Unit due to non-availability of voting materials.

There was large turnout despite the heavy downpour.
Election is going on smoothly.
