Pope Francis Prayed and sends his Condolences to Catholic Diocese of Nnewi
Pope Francis of the Roman Catholic Church, who hold the title ex officio as Bishop of Rome, and sovereign of Vatican City has send his condolence and blessed the families of the deceased and all those affected by this tragedy in the Anambra church.
In a telegram addressed to Bishop Hilary Paul Odili Okeke of Nnewi, Pope Francis said he was “deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life and injury following the violent attack in Saint Philip’s Catholic Church, Ozubulu.”
The Catholic News Agency reports that the Pope extended his “heartfelt condolences to you and to all the faithful of the Diocese of Nnewi, in particular the families of the deceased and all those affected by this tragedy,” and offered blessings of “consolation and strength” upon the entire diocese.
Meanwhile Nigeria Police Force, NPF, have arrested someone connected to the attack and have revealed some of the steps it has taken to get the masterminds of the Anambra church attack living abroad arrested.
The police has asked for the assistance of Interpol for the arrest of the South African-based masterminds of the killings.
