The Akwa Ibom State chapter of Joint Health Sector Union, JOHESU  commences statewide strike after servers warning were given to the State government without results. In a circular distributed in all health centers in the state, JOHESU asked the State government to recall 720 sacked council workers and health officials who were dismissed  from service last year. They also asked 80% CONHESS payment insisting that no alert, no work. President, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has approved the suspension of the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu. And has appointed the EFCC Head of Operations, Mohammed Umar, as the acting chairman replacing Magu. President Muhammadu Buhari approved the immediate suspension of Ibrahim Magu as Ag. Chairman EFCC in order to allow for unhindered inquiry by the Presidential Investigation Panel under the Tribunals of Inquiry Act and other relevant laws. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Monday, September 18, announced a conditional suspension of its strike action, The vanguard reports. ASUU President, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi, announced this in Abuja late on Monday night, after concluding the final meeting with the federal government delegation. The delegation was led by the minister of labour and employment, Chris Ngige. According to Vanguard, ASUU said it was suspending the strike till October for the federal government to fulfill its pledges, ASUU also ordered lecturers to resume duty from Tuesday, September 19. A memorandum of understanding was signed with the federal government delegation at the meeting.

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, on Thursday briefed Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on the outbreak of violence in some parts of Abia.
